2016 Olympic Trials - Eugene, Oregon

July 2016, I joined the Nike Running Eugene retail store as a seasonal sales associate to assist with the influx of traffic during the Olympic Trials. My teammates and I had the opportunity to meet professional athletes from around the country as well as onlookers from around the world to watch their favorite American athletes compete to join the United State’s Olympic team. This was my first taste of what it truly means to “bleed orange.”

Doernbecher 2017

Nike, as a company, contributes donations to the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital every year. This particular year, I had the opportunity to be a part of the experience by attending a donor event and representing the initiative in-store. The Doernbecher foundation collaborated with several children to create an exclusive line of products for the University of Oregon Football team and U of O football fans, to boot.

2017 Community Ambassador Summit

Shortly after accepting a full-time role in the Nike Eugene Store, I took on the role of the store’s Community Champion. My role entailed connecting with community partners and creating relationships with organizations for the store to volunteer with. In December 2017, I attended Nike’s West Coast Community Ambassador Summit. I learned how to promote volunteer opportunities in the store, how to appropriately engage with the organizations we partnered with and, ultimately, how to create a well-rounded relationship with our community partners.

2018 Prefontaine Classic

In May, 2018, we had unique opportunity to sit down with Nike’s own Nelson Farris and discuss his career journey. Mr. Farris’ greatest take-away was that we never need to do anything “disruptive” in order to continue to push the brand. Nike is what it is because of what Bowerman, Knight and Prefontaine created for us.

2018 Prefontaine Classic - Made to Play

During the Prefontaine Classic in May, 2018, my co-community ambassador and I had the opportunity to help the WHQ Made to Play organization set up a community opportunity for the Chavez Marathon Kids group to get to run with some of the elite athletes viewed in this photograph. It was an incredible opportunity to not only meet these olympic athletes, but to see the joy and energy in every single of the kids that came out that day.

2018 Community Ambassador Summit

In December 2018, I attended my second Community Ambassador Summit. After a year of growth and opportunity, I came into the summit having established a consistent relationship with Eugene’s Boys and Girls Club, as well as, Healthy Moves. Both organizations offer a space for children to grow, learn and have an outlet to exercise. At this summit I had the incredible opportunity to help support my teammates from other stores along the West Coast, as they looked to establish similar relationships that my team and I had in Eugene.

AWESOME Huddle April 2019

In February 2019, I was hired onto the Nike Seattle team as a Product Presentation Coach. Shortly after being hired, I had the opportunity to moderate a huddle with some of Nike’s Executives who were attending an AWESOME Conference in Seattle at the time. These woman worked in various facets of supply chain within Nike Corporate. We had the opportunity to learn about their line of work, their career journey and the advice that they had for associates and managers who are interested in continuing on their journeys with Nike.

2019 AWESOME 5K

The morning following the AWESOME Huddle, a handful of Nike Seattle associates and myself paced a group of AWESOME Conference attendees in a 5k Tour Run of downtown. We led the group along the waterfront, to the Space needle, down by the Amazon Globes and back to the store. It was a great opportunity to run alongside a group of strong and empowered women while getting to learn more about them individually during the run.

ASCEND Network Rugby - May 2019

A small group of associates and leaders made our way down to Nike WHQ to play rugby with the Nike Ascend Network. An enlightening opportunity to learn more about Asian cultures and how the Ascend Network is working to continue to empower minorities within the Nike community.

June 2019 Pride Kicks and Coffee

To kick off Pride Month, Nike Seattle hosted a kicks and coffee led by District EKIN, Jacob Savage, so the community could learn more about Nike’s BeTrue collection and the history of Pride in the community.

June 2019 Pride Run

Nike Seattle had the opportunity to re-boot Nike Run Club for a short bit of time in order to keep the excitement alive around Pride before the Pride Parade at the end of the month. I was one of several employees able to act as a pacer for the Pride Run that took the participants through downtown along a history and heritage tour of important moments, landmarks and people.

WISE & The SIX 2019

Nike Seattle hosted a presentation for an organization called WISE. I was one of a handful whom helped present on the most recent Women’s Worlds Cup, where USA took the win, yet again. We discussed the powerful moments that took place this year and in World Cup’s past and how women are becoming more powerful and influential in sports culture. After the presentation a yoga studio called The SIX, led the group through an exciting hip hop rendition of yoga!
